A little sauce can go a long way.
It’s April of 2020. The coronavirus pandemic is raging, and most of the world is in lockdown. In Portland, OR, a city that has become synonymous with “foodie culture” in the last ten years, restaurants are in crisis. I felt compelled to do something. My sauce was saving people stuck at home from bland meals, how could it also help Portland’s suffering restaurant community?
Inspired by “We Are The World,” I asked my friends Corvair to come up with an anthem for the moment. Recruiting dozens of local sauce makers to participate, we sold downloads of the song and sold “mystery boxes” of donated sauce, raising almost $12,000 that went to local nonprofits.
